Software Products for Budgeting and Long Term Planning -- Overview
All of the software products provided by BPSI are variations of the EPICS software system.   The Executive Planning Information Control System (EPICS)  is a unique software system that provides a total administrative umbrella for the business planning and budgeting activities of a company. EPICS allows for the integration and effective control of Long Term Business Plans, Short Term / Budgeting Plans as well as Project Plans. It provides an optimum environment for information management, analyzing results and maintaining the planning process. Some versions allow for  the client’s own business measures and goal setting process to be included under the EPICS umbrella.  

 

        System Concepts/Objectives

EPICS is a total planning administration system. It is implemented "top down" which means that more and more detail can be added to the system over time to match the client’s requirements. The system provides integrated financial reporting and is set up to function entirely from defaults. EPICS allows the client’s System Administrator, in areas where client-wide consistency and consolidation control are necessary, to control these defaults. Certain other defaults may be set by individual users, thus allowing for personalized preferences.

A series of "Folders" make up the heart of the system. These represent the major functional areas of any planning environment. The seven folders (or main tabs) are always visible in the main window of EPICS. While the System Administrator can modify the actual terminology or label displayed on each tab, the system functions remain as follows:
